Stopping Cyber Attacks

Five Ways to Automatically Thwart a PC Cyber Attack

It’s an alarming fact that in an increasingly connected world it’s only a matter of time before your school’s network will be breached by a cyber attack. Moreover, probably the greatest exposure to threats, often unintentional, will originate within your organization. Risks include issues of student, staff, and financial confidentiality – and ultimately the integrity and reputation of your school.

It’s not If but When – and you need to Detect and Recover
Presented with the challenges faced in preventing cyber attacks, HP has built “cyber-resiliency” into its laptops and desktops, powered by Intel® Core™ processors, enabling detection and recovery from an attack.

“Below the OS” protection
·         HP Sure Start cutting-edge approach protects the client device by using hardware enforcement to guarantee that the system will only boot Genuine HP BIOS (basic input/output system).
·         HP Sure Start also detects tampering with HP BIOS, and is able to recover Genuine HP BIOS with the use of a protected backup copy, giving you automated data protection that can be managed centrally by your IT team.

Secure identity
·         HP Multifactor Authenticate and Windows 10 Pro combines hardened authentication, such as fingerprints or PINs, and soft factors like passwords and facial recognition so users need not worry if they forget to lock their PCs before leaving their work area.
·         HP WorkWise, a smartphone application, automatically locks PCs, keeping information secure when the phone is out of range. When the phone is back in range, the PC automatically unlocks and logs a user back in quickly and effortlessly.

Secure your data
·         HP Sure View enables users to work in public spaces without having their screens visible to others. The technology, built directly into the device, helps you make your network compliant with regulatory requirements. A self-encrypting driver (SED) from HP provides hardware-based data encryption with either a 128-bit or 256-bit key.
·         HP Secure Erase complies with NIST 800-88, and is a command to the hard drive, enabling the drive’s internal electronics to do the wiping of the drive swiftly, rather than use a slower Disk Sanitizer. HP also facilitates remote management of business security policies and applications.
