The Importance Of Professional Development

Teaching with Integrated Technology — Developing New Curricula

Not only must teachers have access to technology and learn how to use it, but they also need to know how to teach with it. Historically, technology workshops have done a good job instructing how to use hardware and software.
But teachers need to go a step further and undertake a program of professional development in order to integrate technology into their curricula.

A Win-Win for Students and Teachers Alike
HP considers that technology, when successfully employed in the teaching environment, can have a positive effect on student engagement and resulting accomplishments. Additionally, teachers can facilitate this positive effect when they obtain mentoring and coaching that will help them incorporate technology into their teaching methodology. The HP Professional Learning Program was conceived to do just that.

The HP Professional Learning Program grooms teachers to plan new, effective, well-thought-out, and engaging learning experiences for their students, regardless of the type or amount of technology available to them. Teachers who join the program are immersed in a continuous, online, shared, mentoring setting, improving their skills, and gaining confidence and an understanding of how to successfully integrate technology into teaching and student learning. Students become the ultimate beneficiaries as they learn in part through the use of new technologies that open new worlds to them, and enable them to work at their own speed, when and where they choose.
